Former police officer advises wrapping car keys in aluminum foil

According to a former American Automobile Association (AAA) police officer, there is a method to prevent duplication of the car’s passcode: simply wrap the electronic key or remote in aluminum foil. The latter protects against fraud, even if it is not the most modern solution available, by creating a kind of barrier that isolates electromagnetic waves and thus prevents them from being intercepted and reproduced by cybercriminals. This practice is also used to protect credit cards to prevent their duplication.

Many have wondered if it is really possible for your car to be stolen by duplicating the remote control signal, but apparently there are cases where this has happened: in the case of household appliances, the aluminum paper does not guarantee complete effectiveness, but in the absence of others , more reliable tools, it is worth wrapping the car keys in foil.
